Home Design Trends to Fall For

September is here, and the cooler weather means it’s time to shift focus to our indoor spaces that may have been neglected while outside enjoying the Summer season. Let’s get cozy with these home design trends to fall for!

Woven Texture/Textiles

Move over marble and concrete, the new earthy textures are here. Look for subtle patterns reminiscent of your favorite vintage twill blazer, in color palettes that are both modern and sophisticated.

Velvet

This summer clothing trend is now co-opted by home decor. Once a fabric favored by European royalty, velvet continues to convey opulence even in the tiniest of urban lofts. Get this look with a velvet plush carpet; installed wall-to-wall or made into a custom area rug with softness that has to be touched to be believed.

The New Neutrals

Grey is still a favorite in the modern neutral color pallette, but it is beginning to give way to warmer beiges, creams, and browns. These colors pair well the rustic-modern trend and traditional spaces alike. Bring this earthy look home with a lightly antiqued hardwood floor.

Blush Pink

Maybe you’ve heard of “millennial pink”, this color trend that is taking over the fashion world is also finding its way into paint, tile, and carpet in its softer cousin color, aptly named “blush”.  You don’t have to be a fashionista, or secretly coveting the lifestyle of a certain ubiquitous plastic doll, to appreciate the delicate beauty of blush pink.

Faux Finishes

Blank wall woes? Not everyone has the budget for real shiplap or the time to painstakingly create a stacked stone or wood accent wall.  Get the impressive designer look on a budget and done in a snap with these faux finish options.

Brass and Antiqued Metal Accents

Brass and antiqued metal add a touch of subdued glamor in an otherwise rustic and down-to-earth space without looking overdone. Typically seen only in kitchen and bath fixtures, we now see these hues more prevalent mosaic tile and finish accents.
