Meet the Team
Brandy Callaghan came to what was then The Carpet Place as a wide eyed high school student looking to earn a little cash. Little did she know then that her decision to apply for a part time job would transform her into one of the leading experts in the flooring industry in the Portland/Vancouver market. Early on, the owner, John Rollin recognized her initiative, her eye for design, and her ease in dealing with clients. He took her under his wing and taught her everything there was to know about the flooring business. She expanded her knowledge by working with factory reps, installers, and anyone else that had information she could use. As a result, she has become a valuable resource for any client that comes through the door. In the unlikely event that she doesn’t have an answer off the top of her head, she can find out on a moment’s notice. Because she is a native of Portland, she’s very deeply rooted in the local community. Giving to others less fortunate and to those that have supported her business over the years is of vital importance to her. She is positioning the company so that all employees will be able to volunteer locally on a regular basis during business hours and will compensate the employees to do so.
Even before joining Area Floors, Andrea had begun helping friends and families with their home decorating efforts. Consequently, it was no surprise that she fell in love with her job on the first day she started with Area Floors. She immediately began combining colors and textures to creatively maximize the clients budget. That was four years ago and Andrea Schieman has been soaking up everything the Area Floors suppliers will share with her about the unique benefits of their specific products. She quickly developed strong, long-lasting relationships with the vendors who could provide the best value and craftsmanship available.
After spending many years in the construction industry, Kelsey Marsh came on board with Area Floors about 4 years ago joining his sister, Area Floors owner Brandy Marsh Callaghan. Kelsey’s in-field knowledge of the construction industry has strengthened Area Floors’ commitment to superior customer service. Home builders and homeowners alike have come to appreciate Kelsey’s ability help determine the correct amount of material needed to complete a job. This holds especially true for orders received over the phone from general contractors who appreciate working with someone familiar with the installation process.
Before specializing in flooring and countertops, Megan was a design consultant and vignette coordinator for several high-end furniture and home decor showrooms. She was naturally drawn towards home renovation and decoration because of her keen eye for aesthetics effortlessly creating visually stimulating combinations of clothing with accessories, furniture with curtains, marble tiles with grout and flooring with eclectic wall coverings. She has an acute ability to take something that is seen as nothing and make it something! It was as a vignette specialist that Megan was first able to utilize her ability to visualize and pull together different materials, colors, and styles that worked well together. Her unique sensory design combinations tantalized more than just ones visual senses.
Prior to joining Area Floors, Lindsey spent 13 years as an artist contracting her services as a graphic designer out to local businesses in the Portland Metro area.
